The iconic Gus’ cafe was founded in Canberra in 1965. Recently the new owners required a fresh approach to the brand, while still paying homage to the legacy of its founder, Gus Petersilka. They required a nostalgic brand identity to bring back generations of loyal customers, as well as to attract new ones.
Our creative team drew inspiration from the region and the persona of the original owners to build a nostalgic identity for the new Gus’ Place. We used traditional typography from the 60’s, with a hint of Austrian influence, then combined it with maps and photography from the era to complete brand experience.
